What a great performance by the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, as they rolled all over the Houston Texans 40-14.
Blaine Gabbert threw his second touchdown pass of the preseason while Josh Johnson was nearly flawless, completing 14 of 17 passes for 135 yards and three touchdown passes. His only flaw, an interception returned for a touchdown.
Kassim Osgood had quite a 4th quarter, blocking a punt and making a beautiful open field tackle, staking his case to be a part of the 53-man roster as he was last season.
Rookie linebacker Chris Borland had six tackles and interception return for a touchdown as the 49er defense, which was torched the first two games of the preseason to the tune of 57 points, finished by allowing only 13 points in the final two games.
Now the hard part begins as San Francisco will have to trim down their current roster of 75-players all the way down to 53 by Saturday.
The 49ers finished 2-2 in the preseason and will enter the regular season with some momentum. Their first game is September 7 against the Dallas Cowboys.
