San Francisco 49ers make first roster cuts

The San Francisco 49ers made seven roster cuts on Monday, trimming their team down before Tuesday’s deadline.

Along with the releases, the 49ers also moved several players to the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list and the Reserve/Physically Unable to Preform list (PUP), the 15 moves made Monday, dropped the 49er roster from 90 to 75.

Among the cuts include:

McLeod Bethel-Thompson, QB

David Reed, WR

Devon Wylie, WR

Kevin Greene, TE

Jewel Hampton, RB

Kion Wilson, LB

D.J. Campbell, Saftey

Colton Schmidt, Punter

Hampton spent last season on the 49er practice squad and is eligible to return to San Francisco again in 2014.

The 49ers next play on Thursday on the road against the Houston Texans and from there, will make their final roster cuts before kicking off in Dallas on September 7.
