The San Francisco 49ers will host their second consecutive home game Sunday against the San Diego Chargers on the newly re-sodded Levi’s Stadium.
During practice on Wednesday at Levi’s, coach Jim Harbaugh pulled his team from the field and walked them across the street to their regular practice field due to poor conditions.
By all accounts, the field should be read to rock-n-roll come kickoff on Sunday.
As for the game itself, the 49er starters should see the field the entire first half. This has been the trend the last couple of years under Harbaugh.
The intriguing part of Sunday’s game however, may not be the first half, but rather, the second half, when the duo of Blaine Gabbert and Josh Johnson enter the game.
Both quarterbacks are fighting for a roster spot to backup Colin Kaepernick, and neither one has really stood out through two games.
Meanwhile, the 49ers offense in general has struggled, putting up just three total points through two games.
The Niners-Chargers game will be nationally broadcast on Fox as part of their preseason coverage. Below is additional media information for Sunday’s matchup.
