With the addition of Stevie Johnson to Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin in the wide receiver group, Brandon Lloyd gets a little lost down the depth chart. There are reports coming out though, that Lloyd has been the most consistent receiver in training camp.
Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows wrote that Lloyd “has been perhaps the most consistently productive receiver.”
More importantly, Lloyd is building up a solid rapport with quarterback Colin Kaepernick. A solid relationship and timing between those two could help Lloyd work his way into the rotation.
“He has pretty easy body language to read,” Kaepernick said. “And for the most part, he’s open by a step or two. So that makes it a lot easier.”
Lloyd had an incredible season with the New England Patriots last year, catching 74 passes for 911 yards. The third time in his career he eclipsed the 900 yard mark.
“His routes are so good, man,” said cornerback Chris Cook.
“Everything he runs, it just looks like he’s about to take off and go straight down the field. You can’t really get good reads on his routes. It makes you stay honest and play your technique true.”
