One Day Until NFL, 49ers Schedule is Released!

The NFL will release the 2014 NFL schedule Wednesday at 5 pm Pacific Time (8ET). The San Francisco 49ers, unsurprisingly, have a relatively difficult slate of games. Hopefully the scheduling committee will be a bit nicer to them this season compared to the past couple of years, as Jim Harbaugh‘s tenure has been filled with a lot of travel and grueling cross-country trips. The opponents for the 49ers are:

Home:

Arizona Cardinals
Seattle Seahawks
St. Louis Rams
Kansas City Chiefs
Philadelphia Eagles
San Diego Chargers
Washington Redskins
Chicago Bears

Away:

Arizona Cardinals
Seattle Seahawks
St. Louis Rams
Dallas Cowboys
Denver Broncos
New York Giants
Oakland Raiders
New Orleans Saints

It will certainly not be an easy path back to the playoffs, especially with a much-improved NFC West over the past couple of seasons–and still improving at that! Throw in a likely suspension for Aldon SmithNavarro Bowman‘s injury, and the high turnover and uncertainty in the secondary and a once-formidable defense is now looking quite vulnerable. With teams like Seattle and Arizona in the division, this could be a tough year for Vic Fangio and company.

Hopefully the defense gets figured out in a couple of weeks as the draft will finally arrive. A wide receiver could not hurt, either. For now, we will have to be content with the unveiling of the schedule in less than 24 hours.
