According to MMQB.com, while Richard Sherman was celebrating the Seattle Seahawks’ first Super Bowl win, he still had the San Francisco 49ers on his mind. Sherman could not stop himself from saying one last thing about the Niners before turning his focus to the 2014 season.
Hold on 49ers Faithful. Don’t jump to the conclusion that what Sherman said was all negative. MMQB.com reporter Rober Klemko was following Sherman all night as he celebrated Sunday’s win. He captured this quote from the cornerback:
He hates to admit it, but says “the NFC Championship was the Super Bowl. The 49ers were the second-best team in the NFL.”
You can file that quote under giving respect where it’s due. The best part is that Sherman hates to admit the 49ers are a really good team and they are even better than the Denver Broncos.
But of course, Sherman was not all positive when talking about the 49ers:
And he’s not just being coy when he says he had only good intentions when he tried to shake 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree’s hand after the game-clinching deflection and interception in the NFC title game. “I know if I went up to Larry Fitzgerald in that situation,” Sherman says, “he’d have shaken my hand. It’s about respect.”
I wonder what Fitzgerald has to say about that.
