Navarro Bowman MRI reveals torn ACL and MCL

An MRI has revealed that Navarro Bowman has torn his ACL and MCL after a horrific injury sustained in the NFC Chamionship Game per a report by Pro Football Talk. This is devastating news for the San Francisco 49er faithful as things have gone from bad to worse after a heartbreaking loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The world went silent after watching Bowman go down awkwardly after stripping the football at the 1-yard line from Jermaine Kearse. Unfortunately the officials failed to see the blatantly obvious turnover and the Seahawks kept the ball (only to fumble it a play later).

This type of situation will be a hotly debated topic for the coming weeks. Bowman clearly had possession of the ball throughout the play and the coach should be able to challenge that. Hopefully the league will take a long look into changing that rule  in the off-season.

As for Bowman he will now have to endure a grueling rehab stint, hoping to make it back at some point next season. There is no guarantee everything will heal according to plan especially with that type of injury. One thing is for sure, he played like the best linebacker in the league consistently all year and we can only hope he returns to that form.

The league should consider reviewing turnover plays, but the 49ers and their fans have nothing to complain about. They would have recovered inches from the end zone. Instead, the next play was fumbled and knocked back closer to the 10 yard line, which game the Niners offense waaaay more room for their plays. They threw an INT, so it’s their own fault and it could have been a situation where they took a safety instead of an interception. That would have poured it on in Seattle where the Seahawks were constantly on the verge of destroying the 49ers like they did the last time they went up to Seattle. Pete Carroll made mention of this during his press conference, noting that had they made more of their chances this game would have been put away closer to half time than having to rely on Seattle’s defense to make a spectacular play. Anyways – Bowman is a good player and a torn ACL will be a pain to come back from but it’s totally possible.
