So, being in London is nice and all, but as a San Francisco 49ers fan, it definitely has its downsides. Mainly, it is extremely difficult to watch 49ers games.
It makes sense that the the 8:15 pm ET Saturday game would not be showing here, as it would be 1:15 local time. However, the 4:15 games are also shown virtually nowhere! (And it only starts at 9:15!!!) Fortunately, the 49ers start their game this week at 1:15 ET, which is 6:15 here in London. Even with this early start, however, finding a place showing the game has proven extremely difficult!
Now, for some context, the playoff games are on satellite channel Sky Sports. My apartment, sadly, does not have this, and watching games of questionable legality through web streams would not be looked favorably upon, as it never is, I guess, but especially not with the WiFi I have been provided with. Thus, I attempted to call some pubs around the neighborhood. It took me three attempts to find a pub open at 6 pm on a Sunday. I miss Buffalo Wild Wings. A lot. For some reason, in a city with as much sports passion as any in the world, watching NFL Playoff games has proven quite difficult. The NFL may have some work to do here after all.
