On Monday, it was announced San Francisco 49ers offensive line coach Tim Drevno was hired by the University of Southern California to be the O-line coach and running game coordinator. Drevno will remain with the 49ers through the end of the playoffs.
USC recently hired a new head coach in Steve Sarkisian, who made the hire of Drevno to his staff. Drevno coached the 49ers’ offensive line beginning in 2011, along with Mike Solari, and helped develop the O-line into one of the best in the NFL.
Drevno has coached under Jim Harbaugh since 2004, making coaching stops at the University of San Diego, Stanford and the 49ers. He made his coaching debut at Cal State Fullerton and he also coached at Montana State, UNLV, San Jose State and Idaho.
Harbaugh released the following statement on Tuesday:
It is with great emotion, pride and excitement that we wish Tim Drevno continued success in his professional journey at The University of Southern California.
Coach Drevno and I have partnered for the last decade at The University of San Diego, Stanford University and the San Francisco 49ers. Tim has been a trusted agent, outstanding football coach and known friend every step of the way.
Sarah and I have shared immense personal joy through our friendship with Tim, Shannon and family. We wish them happiness in their new venture and I am confident the entire Drevno family will attack this endeavor with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
