Merry Christmas San Francisco 49ers fans! From all of us here at Niner Noise, we hope you have a wonderful day and great holiday season.
We got an early Christmas present from the 49ers and, especially, Navorro Bowman and Tramaine Brock. What a finish . . . I am still nowhere near over that. Speaking of early Christmas presents, how is another trip to the playoffs? Jim Harbaugh has been making a habit of this, and I could sure get used to it.
On this Christmas Day, however, I find it important to reflect on just what makes this team so special. Anquan Boldin recently, through his Q81 Foundation invited youth along to help him serve. Teaching youngsters how to help others is a trait often neglected. It is great to see this happening. Patrick Willis, a class act, had to fight demons and survive his father before making the NFL — without harboring bitterness. Check out this video and this article if you do not remember them. Colin Kaepernick, of course, grew up adopted by a loving couple, and now gives much time and money to Camp Taylor, “an organization dedicated to helping those with heart disease.” Then, of course, there is Harbaugh, who for years has spent a week every offseason working with a community in Peru .(Check out Sports Illustrated’s article a few weeks back if you have yet to read it. It is excellent.) is a model citizen who seems to be one of the least selfish people in the limelight today. These are only a few of many examples of how the 49ers players and coaches, for the most part, have their minds and hearts focused on what is truly important — yes, even more important than football.
Once again, have a wonderful Christmas and winter holiday season. The 49ers on the field are quite good this year. It is nice to see them exceed this off the field as well.
