Remember the “12th Man” Billboard last Sunday? How about the Levi’s Stadium bricks that some Seattle fans bought? Didn’t that bother you a little? Well, it bothered Aasheesh Shravah, a 49er fan from New York, as well. He decided to call up some Seattle billboard companies to see how much it would cost to put up a 49ers billboard near CenturyLink field in Seattle. After figuring out it would cost around $7,000, he set up a GoFundMe.com account. It quickly surpassed his $7,000 goal and, at the time of this posting, was at $7,950. A prototype of the design can be found on Facebook, and you can join the fan site here.
The excess funds will go to the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Says Shravah: “We figured if we’re doing this in Seattle, why not do it for a charity in Seattle?” The message itself will not be derogatory, otherwise the company would not put up the billboard. It will approve the final message. “We’re going to try to keep it classy and represent the 49ers,” Shravah told reporters. It will be much classier than Seattle’s response to Colin Kaepernick‘s new commercial.
