The San Francisco 49ers recently got over a 2 game losing streak, but Vernon Davis is still confident. According to 49ers.com: “We will make it back to where we ended last year,” said Davis. How is he so confident? Well, “In order to get there, we have to have everyone ready and healthy.” With Mario Manningham continuing to improve after coming back from a torn ACL, Michael Crabtree returning this week against the St. Louis Rams, Aldon Smith returning to form, Tarell Brown getting healthy again, Tank Carradine possibly adding depth to the defensive line, Quinton Patton nearing a return, and more injuries being overcome, the 49ers definitely have the arrow pointed in the upwards direction.
True, it will be difficult for the 49ers to make the playoffs. The Arizona Cardinals are right on their heels—and the NFC North and East have teams that are not too far behind. Their upcoming schedule does not do the 49ers any favors either.
If, however, having these assets back means anything at all, the 49ers could very easily go on a long run. After all, they lost to the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints by a combined 4 points. A play here or there—perhaps by Crabtree—would mean wins in either or both of those games. If the horrid offense continues to improve, this team could get real hot, real fast. Let’s hope Vernon Davis’ confidence is an accurate prediction.
