With the San Francisco 49ers hosting their divisional rivals the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, this week’s game for Niners will be an exciting one. This will be the final meeting between the teams, with San Francisco winning the previous game, 35-11, in St. Louis.
Even though the 49ers were in control throughout the game in Week 4 against the Rams, don’t expect the contest to be a blow out. Last season, the Rams tied the 49ers at home, 24-24. St. Louis is a much different team than the one the Niners faced in the beginning of the season. They are now led by Kellen Clemens at quarterback and have found life in their running game. The Rams will be coming into the matchup with a bit of swagger after winning back-to-back games by blowouts over the Chicago Bears (42-21) and Indianapolis Colts (38-8).
As of this posting the oddsmakers have the 49ers as a 7.5 point favorite at home over the Rams. This is down from a high of 10.5 point favorite early this week. If I were a betting man, and neutral to the teams, I would bet against the 49ers to cover the spread. The Niners will come away with a win over the Rams, but the final score will be close.
