The NFL handed down seven fines to players for their actions in Week 12, however, 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith was not one of them. Smith inadvertently kneed Robert Griffin III in the groin in the third-quarter of the 49ers win on Monday night.
On the play, Smith was pressuring RG3 and as he went to pass, Aldon jumped up to block the throw and his leg hit the QB’s groin. After the play RG3 was in obvious pain, jumping up and down, trying to shake off the pain. After the play, the Redskins would punt and the 49ers would go on to score 17 unanswered points.
RG3 faced a lot of attention and criticism this week for his father going into the locker-room after the blowout loss to check on the health of his son. Apparently, RG2 was worried “there will be an RGIV” because of the kick the QB took “in the gonads.”
Aldon looks to be back to true form after he finished with five tackles, two sacks and two QB pressures in the win over Washington. He is now second on the team with 6.5 sacks this season.
