It was a great run for bay area sports fans last year. The San Francisco Giants won the World Series, the Oakland Athletics had a great postseason run, the Golden State Warriors finally made the playoffs and the San Francisco 49ers almost won the Super Bowl!

Now that the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s are out of the question for this year’s World Series title, all eyes are on our beloved 49ers.

The Niners are ranked  2nd in the NFC Western Division; and they currently hold a record of 4-2.  This year’s Super Bowl is still within their reach. Of course losing to the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts hurt us all, but the 49ers have found a way to bounce back since then. The team knows how to win even without two of their top wide receivers.

Mario Manningham is returning from a multiple-knee ligament tear, and he’s expected to make his 2013 debut within three weeks. Michael Crabtree is recovering from a ruptured Achilles’ tendon and the Niners expect him to return anywhere from mid to late November.

It’s a long season ahead of us and until Manningham and Crabtree return, expect the Niners to grind it out with Frank Gore, Vernon Davis and Anquan Boldin. The 49ers are projected to continue their winning streak with upcoming games against the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers.
