There have been many doubters this season through 3 weeks towards the All-Pro running back, Frank Gore. It even sparked before the NFL season began as critics were saying that Gore wouldn’t be the same as he joined the “30 club” as he hit the age of 30 last May.
The theory is that once a running back turns 30, their career starts to slowly deteriorate. But last night showed that there’s nothing to worry about as he finally came through with a breakthrough performance.
He didn’t need any receptions last night against the St. Louis Rams as his rushing did it all for him. Frank had 20 carries for 153 yards. This is the Frank Gore that the “Niner Faithful” have been waiting for all year.
The key play to his big performance was on a 4th and 1 in the second quarter. Jim Harbaugh loaded the box and played straight power football. Frank Gore busted through the hole between the Right Tackle and Tight End to see nothing but green as he waltzed into the end zone.
The rest of the night took care of itself as the O-Line helped pave the way for Frank to get every inch of his 153 yards. Gore faces a tough task next week as he and the 49ers welcome the Houston Texans into “The Stick.”
