Video: Colin Kaepernick & Russell Wilson Star in Madden NFL 25 Commercial

This time of year for sports fans means not only the start of the NFL regular season is right around the corner, but also the release of the new Madden NFL video game. To celebrate the release of the 25th year of Madden NFL, EA Sports has created rivalry commercials between current players.

For the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, they were represented by quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson. The rivalry between the two QB’s is still developing because they have only faced off once against each other as starters. But of course, the rivalry between the Niners and Seahawks is as intense as it’s been in years with both teams the strongest in the NFC West Division.

What makes the Kaepernick/Wilson Madden 25 commercial so great and funny (you can see it below) is it goes into the rivalry history between the two and why they became mobile quarterbacks. It started as a chance encounter at Camp Winnipesaukee in late ‘90s when the two were young. They are shown playing Madden which developed into a fierce rivalry. So fierce in fact that the reason both became mobile quarterbacks was so they could beat each other as each other in Madden.

While there is no Camp Winnipesaukee, there is a Lake Winnipesaukee in Wisconsin. The connection here is that Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, while Wilson attended the University of Wisconsin.

Some highlights in the video not to miss are the training they go through to become the greatest mobile QB’s and a young Kaepernick drawing plays on his chest. The plays resemble the tattoos he has on his chest as an adult. The best part is towards the end of the video when they are playing each other on Madden as adults. After Wilson scores he looks at Kap, kisses his biceps and says, “it that how you do it?”

Madden NFL 25 will be released on August 27.
