As you may have heard, the San Francisco 49ers gave up on last years first-round pick and bust A.J. Jenkins when he was traded for fellow first-round bust Jon Baldwin this morning.
Baldwin has prototypical size that the 49ers love at receiver with his big body and speed he could be a threat in the red zone and can block down field (a must for receivers in the 49ers offense). Baldwin has not lived up to expectations and had only 20 catches last year, but the Niners believe they can make him a better player.
Now don’t you worry we will have a list of highlights from the “A.J. Jenkins Era” later.
Jenkins was a first-round pick of the Niners in 2012 and did not catch a pass his whole rookies season. A team that lost Mario Manningham and Kyle Williams for the season and had a receiver named Chad Hall getting snaps in the playoffs, but a first rounder couldn’t crack the line up and do what receivers do and catch balls.
Oh, the A.J. Jenkins highlights are getting even closer, can you feel it?
Jenkins came back this offseason with a dedication to working hard and training with starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick in Atlanta. All that work resulted in one catch in the two playoff games…that one catch lead to a lost fumble by Jenkins.
But without further ado I present to you…Niner Noise’s Comprehensive and Complete Highlights for the A.J. Jenkins Era:
