The San Francisco 49ers deep running back corps just got better after the 49ers have activated Kendall Hunter from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
Hunter ruptured his Achilles Tendon on the same play that Kyle Williams tore his ACL against the New Orleans Saints, losing both players hurt the 49ers in their deep playoff run.

Hunter is Frank Gore‘s main backup and with Gore expected to continue taking on a lighter load, Hunter and second-year running back LaMichael James are expected to contribute more to the offense this year.
Hunter may be short (5’7″), but he is not small and he runs powerfully between the tackles with deceptive speed and good hands out of the backfield.
The 49ers announced that he will be at practice today for the 49ers Fan Fest and he should be able to play in the Niners next preseason game when they visit former Niner Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday.
With Hunter returning, who do you think should be the backup/change-of-pace back for the San Francisco 49ers – Kendall Hunter or LaMichael James?
