The San Francisco 49ers announced via Twitter that former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Eric Wright has signed a one-year deal with the team.

Niner Noise reported that the 49ers were still interested in Wright despite his failing his physical with the team and that he’s been in contact with the Niners General Manager Trent Baalke.
Wright was initially traded to the 49ers from the Bucs for a conditional late-round pick, but after failing his physical he reverted back to Tampa Bay, who cut him immediately.
The 49ers remained interested in Wright after nickel back Chris Culliver tore his ACL and was put on injured reserve ending his 2013 season.
In a corresponding move to make room for Wright on the roster, the 49ers have released undrafted rookie Lowell Rose, who, if you remember, was released after Wright was traded to the 49ers.
Wright will compete for a roster spot to play corner in the 49ers defensive backfield. Wright will almost assuredly not suit up tonight.
