In business news for the San Francisco 49ers, the team announced a deal with PepsiCo to provide drinks (non-alcoholic) and snacks at new the Levi’s Stadium set to open in 2014. The multi-year deal will also see the company receive branding on the stadium North Fan Deck on the upper level.
The contract with PepsiCo follows recent partnerships the 49ers established with San Francisco based Levi Strauss & Co. (naming rights) and tech giant Yahoo! (exclusive online content provider.) The Niners already have PepsiCo products available at all Candlestick Park home games, but in a limited variety. However, the deal for the new stadium will increase what is available to fans.
The sponsorship announcement also said the Niners and PepsiCo will be running a contest from August 12 to October 5 with 49 gold cans being placed in certain Pepsi products at Northern California retailers. Lucky Niner fans who find the golden cans will be eligible for team apparel, VIP tailgates, behind-the-scenes stadium tours and chances to meet players.
So what can Niner fans expect to eat and drink at the new stadium? In addition to Pepsi soda, the concession stands will also sell Gatorade, Tropicana and Frito-Lay products. No word yet on which company will be providing the all essential alcoholic beverages at the new stadium. We’ll keep you updated.
