The name Nnamdi Asomugha may tie your tongue in knots, but now he has tied the knot with television star, Kerry Washington of ABC’s “Scandal”. The San Francisco 49er defensive back wed Washington last week in Idaho, according to E!
Washington, 36, is five years the elder of Asomugha, who signed a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with the 49ers this offseason after being with the Philadelphia Eagles for two years and the Oakland Raiders before that.
Asomugha and the 49ers are hoping that a happy wife equals a happy life for Asomugha, who is looking to regain his old form as one of the best cover corners in the NFL. Before being able to reclaim said status, Nnamdi must first make the team — which is no small feat.
Asomugha must win a spot on a team that returns its top five corners including: Tarell Brown, Carlos Rogers, Chris Culliver, Perrish Cox and Tramaine Brock. In Organized Team Activities, Asomugha saw time as a starting corner, although Brown wasn’t in attendance.
With Training Camp starting up in less than three weeks, Asomugha will get another opportunity to make an impression with the coaching staff and he’ll see his first action as a 49er on Aug. 8th when the Denver Broncos come into town for the first preseason game.
