Former San Francisco 49ers center John Macaulay, who won the 1984 NFL Championship with the team, lost and recovered his Super Bowl ring at the San Jose airport this week.

An employee who works at the Starbucks in Terminal B of Mineta San Jose International Airport found and returned the ring. Airport staff was able to find Macaulay because his name is engraved on the ring.

It is great news Macaulay was able to recover his Super Bowl XIX ring because it was found, of all places, in the restroom. Arra Daquina was the employee who recovered the box in the men’s room and took it to lost-and-found. He said, “I didn’t know what it was, but it was big and heavy.”

Macaulay is lucky an NFL fan did not find and open the box, because I doubt the ring would have been returned as quickly. According to a report, the former Niner was “in awe at how quickly he got it back.”

What do you think Niner fans? What would you do if you found a 49ers or any Super Bowl ring?  Return it right away? Hold onto to it for awhile to show off? Keep it? Answer in the comments.
