2013 NFL Draft: San Francisco 49ers Potential Prospects

Now that CB Nnamdi Asomugha is on board, it looks like the San Francisco 49ers will lay off the signings until draft day. Looking ahead to the NFL Draft, there are many directions the 49ers can go in with the 31st pick. They can add a second tier safety such as FS Jonathan Cyprien (FIU) or target a raw talent such as DE Margus Hunt (SMU). And if those options are not worthy of the pick, they can then elect to trade-up with teams such as the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, or Oakland Raiders and draft that blue chip prospect. Simply put, the 49ers have options.

Looking ahead, I have identified two players at each position, who I believe the 49ers should strongly consider, with the draft positions they currently hold. (Please note, these players are tailored to the 49ers scheme and is based on production, character, and measureables)

Note: Quarterback is excluded as they already have QB’s Colin Kaepernick, Colt McCoy, and Scott Tolzien.

Now that we have Nnamdi, we have two good backup CB, with Culliver. Allows us to focus on FS and NT for the high rounds. Draft some young CB talent in the later rounds to develop in a few years. Focus on G, T, and C in the mid-rounds. McCoy is a good fit and glad we didn’t waste a lot of money on Revis.

Agreed, Revis would have been a gamble. Culliver could possibly slide to FS as that is his natural position in college playing along w/ CB Stephon Gilmore. I think they should focus on defensive line first and then draft a Guard or Center since the draft is deep w/ lineman this year.
