Wide receiver Anquan Boldin was traded to San Francisco on March 12, 2013 from the Baltimore Ravens
Trade Details: 49ers received Anquan Boldin. Ravens received 49ers 6th-round pick in 2013.
Niners general manager Trent Baalke should get the NFL Executive of the Year award just for the two trades he has made so far this offseason. The trade that brought Anquan Boldin from Charm City to The City by the Bay was another steal for the 49ers. Yes, Boldin is 32 years old and has lost a step or two, but regardless, San Francisco only gave up a 6th-round selection in the upcoming draft for his services. With the amount of draft picks the Niners currently hold and the fact that no player the team selects in the 6th-round would be able to contribute the way Boldin will this season, is what also makes this trade a coup for San Francisco.
Baltimore needed to get rid of Boldin because of salary cap issues and not because of declining capabilities, which is why they only received a 6th-round draft pick from San Francisco. One bad thing with the trade is Boldin is a free agent after this season, so there is the possibility this will turn into a one year rental. Boldin has said he would like to stay in SF for more than one season, but even if we have him just for 2013, he will provide a great receiver opposite Michael Crabtree the 49ers terribly lacked last season.
