Today, the San Francisco 49ers announced that they signed former St. Louis Rams FS Craig Dahl to a three-year contract. The five-year veteran has registered 320 tackles, 3 sacks, and 4 interceptions during his career. Dahl first broke into the league as an undrafted free-agent in 2007 with the New York Giants, before spending his next four seasons with the Rams. Dahl will now have the tough task of replacing All Pro S Dashon Goldson, who recently signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The signing of Dahl was not a popular one, as the 49ers fan base clearly wanted a household name, such as S Ed Reed, S Charles Woodson, or CB Nnamdi Asomugha. However, I am sure the 49ers front office has a plan in place for him, since Louis Delmas recently re-signed with the Detroit Lions, making Dahl a high-priority, as GM Trent Baalke said this of Dahl:
He is an experienced veteran with excellent intangibles, who has working knowledge of the NFC West.
Dahl, will now take his talents to San Francisco in hopes of beating his former team, in the Rams.
