It’s A Done Deal: Alex Smith Traded From San Francisco 49ers To Kansas City Chiefs

According Jay Glazer of Fox Sports and Adam Schefter of ESPN, the San Francisco 49ers have traded quarterback Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs. The trade cannot be made official until the start of the 2013 season on March 12.

As you can see from Schefter’s tweet, it looks like the Niners will receive the first pick of the second-round (34th overall) of the draft in April. San Francisco receiving a second-round draft pick for Smith was a higher pick compensation I thought they would receive in a trade. Especially with the Chiefs picking first in the second-round, but we will take it.

This is the best scenario for the 49ers and Smith. The team is now all yours Colin Kaepernick.

Stay tuned to Niner Noise for comments and reactions about the Alex Smith trade.

Yes, I think it’s a fair deal for Alex and the ’9ers. Think we can sign Matt Cassel or Josh Johnson as a 3rd string QB. Now Dwayne Bowe for Alex . . . .THAT would have been a deal.
