As the San Francisco 49ers prepare for the Super Bowl, quarterback Colin Kaepernick has quietly begun his own official website called Kaepernick7.com. A website dedicated to Kaepernick fans around the world, the website’s sole purpose is to bring fans together and share the Kaepernick love. Shawn Smith, Public Relations & Marketing Director for X-A-M Sports who represents Kaepernick, obtained the domain name around mid-January, and is currently using sports internet marketing firm Athlete Web Design, in designing Kaep’s official website, with the help of 99designs.com.
And that’s where the fun comes into play.
99designs, an online marketplace for graphic design work, is running a contest where contestants register for free and submit their designs through Tuesday, February 5th. You can register here, and enter the contest by clicking here.
It is a very exciting opportunity for both Kaepernick and 99designs as Jeff Titterton, Chief Marketing Officer at 99designs said:
We’re big 49ers fans here, so were thrilled when Athlete Web Design launched this contest for Colin Kaepernick’s new website. 99designs has hosted thousands of sports-related design contests, and I’m sure this will go down as one of our favorites. So far the contest has attracted more than 200 submissions from designers around the world, and the caliber has been fantastic. We expect Colin and his crew will have a very tough time picking a winner. And we also expect the winning design will include a Lombardi Trophy!
With Kaepernick living up to his full potential as both an entrepreneur and athlete, it just goes to show you the maturity level of a quarterback, well beyond his years.
