We all heard of a player’s coach but what about a player’s analyst? I’m not sure one exists, however if there was one, the epitome of a player’s analyst would have to be Deion Sanders. The player known as “Prime Time,” played for both the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens during his tenure, and is well respected by players throughout the league. He has a rapport with the players no other individual possesses, making him a hot commodity in the media. During Michael Crabtree’s Media Day Press Conference, “Prime Time” was seen cracking jokes with him on a personal level, and had this to say:
What is really going on with your head, man?
Man, all of us guys got this bet, that we wasn’t gonna cut our hair until we won the Super Bowl. So you know we here, and I’m a couple days away, and if we win, I might not cut it off.
Are you saying you look like Django?
The Crabtree/Primetime relationship began during Crabtree’s preparation for the 2009 NFL Draft, as Crabtree decided to hire Sanders’ old agent Eugene Parker while working out at Prime U. Furthermore, it eventually created a drift between himself and the 49ers organization as Crabtree became the 49ers longest rookie holdout in the franchise’s history. Fast forward to 2013, and the holdout was well worth the wait, as Crabtree is now paying huge dividends, and is widely considered one of the best receivers in the game.
