What Will Colin Kaepernick Do?

In Kaepernick we trust, WWCKD? , the Battle of the Back-ups, one thing is for certain, there are pleanty of headlines to follow in this game. While Qb’s Alex Smith and Jay Cutler isn’t a premiere match-up it would have a lot stronger foundation than Kaepernick versus Campbell. Even with these backups taking center stage for Monday Night Football, these 2 teams are still very evenly matched.

The storylines will still be the same, 2 top defenses, 2 great running backs, and two teams that find themselves atop their divisions going down the back straightaway of the season. At this point these two teams can begin focusing on how to wrap up their respective divisions and then start worrying about seeding.

It’s hard to tell which team needs this game more. For the 49ers a loss would mean only a half game lead over Seattle, while a Chicago loss would mean they would drop into a tie with Green Bay whom for now owns the head to head tie breaker.

As a Niner fanatic how much confidence do you have in Colin to go out and get a win over a good team? Kaepernick has had flashes of brilliance, but at the same time he’s seems to hold the ball too long and still is rough around the edges. He has speed, but this isn’t a defense that a scrambling quarterback has success against. During the week it looked as is Alex Smith would be good to go, as he was able to participate with the first team. Today that took a turn for the worse as he was unable to get clearance from the neurologist.

Our best hope in this game is to get Colin comfortable throwing early because if we try pounding them with the run we will find ourselves in 3rd and long situations and that’s where the Bears defense forces turnovers. Honestly it will be a successful night as long as the offense doesn’t turn the ball over and finds a way to put up about 14 points. Easier said than done…

As stated before this game can be made about the new guys under center, but this game is really a showdown between the 2 stellar defenses and who can have the better day. Here’s to hoping Kaepernick can stay upright and the 49ers can get a much needed win. Have fun watching the game.
