The San Francisco 49ers are 2-0 this season with every power poll having them at the top and the networks are claiming they are the best in football, all for good reason. It is to a point where the 49ers will need to prove to everyone that it’s about, “The Team, the Team, the Team.” When Coach Jim Harbaugh came to San Francisco this was the motto that was to mold and build his vision for the 49ers. You hear it when the players are interviewed and in the articles of how Randy Moss is fine not being the guy. Stats are not important to anyone on this team as wins are the only goal. As this off-season’s biggest story was the feud over the comments made by Alex Smith about 300 yard games, it is only going to get harder to keep this mindset together because the better you are, the more comes your way.
Just a couple years ago the Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl and are now featured in commercials. With the added exposure and fame comes animosity amongst teammates. I am not saying the Packers are a bad team but they do not look like the team they were. While this is a small part of it, the effects are noticeable as players are starting to question leadership and point fingers. This is just one example of many you see throughout the league. While the 49ers have not gotten to that point yet, you can see Coach Harbaugh building the foundation to keep the team grounded in what is important.
The Vikings are the next team standing in the way of staying unbeaten. We all know Coach will be looking for Freddy P. Soft in the building and with Harbaugh at the helm I don’t believe there are any trap games in the near future.
On another note I am not sure if the 49ers are planning on making this a two week trip or not. I had read somewhere that it was a possibility and I believe this would be a good time to do it. Keeping the team together and building relationships will allow the team to get away from some of the distractions that are coming.
