49ers Signings and Roster Moves

*This thread will be updated with each and every move the 49ers make. Scroll below for a list of every move along with contract details of the 49ers off season activities.

NFL Draft:

AJ Jenkins WR

LaMichael James RB

Joe Looney OG

Darius Fleming OLB

Trenton Robinson S

Jason Slowey OG

Cameron Johnson DE

Note: The team has not officially announced it’s undrafted free agents yet though many names have been announced by players themselves or their agents.  When the list of UDFA is official they will be updated here.

4/6 Guard Jason Brown has signed with division rival Seattle. And the 49ers have re-signed wide receiver Brett Swain to a 1 year contract. Swain was brought on last season after Joshua Morgan was lost for the year. Swain caught just two passes for 15 yards, he is a talented special teams coverage man. Don’t expect Swain to make the team, this is one of the many moves the team will make between now and training camp to get to their roster up to 80 players by the time players report. 49ers free agent safety Reggie Smith has signed a 1 year deal with the Carolina Panthers.

4/3 The 49ers ushered in another veteran guard for a look-see with former Ram and Raven Jason Brown came in for a visit. This is likely just another in the long line of veterans the 49ers have brought in but haven’t signed. The organization is likely doing it’s due diligence working out vets in case they don’t find a solution in the draft. They appear in no hurry to sign anyone right now.

3/29 Details of Ginn and Jacobs contracts have come out. Ted Ginn’s one-year contract with 49ers has $1.2M base salary, of which $500K is guaranteed. Also, $175K roster bonus. Brandon Jacobs base salaries are $700K(2012), giving him a $875K salary in 2012, his 2013 base is $880K, giving him a $1.19M salary in 2013.

3/28 The 49ers have signed former Giants RB Brandon Jacobs. Terms of the deal have yet to be released. The contract is likely for 1 year, vet minimum money based on the 49ers current cap situation.

3/27 After a quiet four days news has surfaced that the 49ers have worked out Cardinals OG Deuce Lutui this week. The 49ers are looking to add a cheap veteran OG to compete with Daniel Kilgore and most likely a draft pick. Lutui played in 15 games as a backup for Arizona last season.

3/22 A flurry of moves continues by the 49ers. One day after resigning QB Alex Smith and just over an hour after announcing a new 1 year deal with WR/KR Ted Ginn Jr. The 49ers have announced the signing of QB Josh Johnson to a 2 year deal. Johnson played for coach Jim Harbaugh at San Diego State and has not be shy about his desire to reunite with his former coach. Johnson has been a backup his entire 4 year career with the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Cross punt and kick returner off the 49ers needs. Ted Ginn Jr has resigned with the 49ers on a 1 year deal. The terms of the contract are unknown at this time. It was rumored that Ginn had a 3 year, $7 million deal on the table.

I love how quickly things change in the NFL. Apparently the Vikings stepped up their offer to Schwartz who has agreed to a 1 year deal with Minnesota. The 49ers search for a RG continues.

Geoff Schwartz and the 49ers are now reportedly in contract talks after a positive visit yesterday.

"“We have to reach agreement on little things. If we can do that, I could see him being a Niner blocking for Alex (Smith) … Hopefully, San Francisco knocks us out.” Schwartz agent Deryk GilmoreAlex Smith Contract Update 3/21"

Smith and the 49ers agreed to a three year deal worth $8 million a season but as much as $33 million overall and $16.5 million guaranteed. That’s a big step up from the three year, $24 million, $10 guaranteed deal that was rumored to be on the table since before the start of free agency. The exact breakdown of the contract is still coming out in bits and pieces. Details such as the signing bonus and breakdown of the deal have yet to be revealed. When those terms are known they will be updated in Niner Noises’s 49ers Free Agency Tracker.

FINALLY! The QB saga is over in SF the 49ers and Alex Smith have apparently kissed and made up, the 49ers have re-signed Alex Smith. The exact parameters of the deal have yet to be revealed but the reports are 3 years with an avg of $8 million per year, no word yet on the guaranteed money.

3/20 Update: Geoff Schwartz arrived at noon for his visit. The free agent OL who grew up a 49er fan living in Southern California has also visited the Lions and Vikings. The 49ers are likely looking at Schwartz as a potential replacement for RG Adam Snyder who signed with the Arizona Cardinals last week.

In wake of the Peyton Manning saga, trade rumors for Tim Tebow have started to come out of the woodwork. ESPNs Adam Schefter put the 49ers out there as a potential target in a trade for Tebow. In a prime example of the media jumping the gun, Schefter has recanted his statement and now says the 49ers are not at all interested in acquiring Tebow.

*QB update*

QB Alex Smith reportedly met with coach Jim Harbaugh today for an hour to “iron things out” the 49ers hope to resign Smith with Manning now with the Broncos. The Dolphins signed former Jags QB David Garrad today further limiting Smith’s opportunities outside of SF.

QB Alex Smith (visit: Miami) It is now being reported that Smith will wait to see where Peyton Manning signs. He will not sign with the Dolphins after a reported five hours of negotiations. The rumors go on to say that Smith will not even sign if Miami offers more money than the rumored 3 year/$24 million deal the 49ers offered.

It has been widely report that Manning will make his decision Monday or Tuesday.
