2012 NFL Draft: Who Will the 49ers Pick? Nobody Has a Clue

By now you’ve read about 1,235,345 Mock Drafts (or so).  You’ve also posted your own Mock out there somewhere and read over a million other fans perspective in various forums.  Nobody, and I mean nobody outside of the Niners organization has any idea of what the team will do with the 30th pick or the rest of the draft for that matter.

That’s a great thing for 49er fans.  No longer are we picking from the elite players at the top of the draft.  No longer do we have huge gaps all over roster.  No longer are we hoping for one of the top players in the draft to slip to us.  Nobody knows what the 49ers are going to do because they don’t really NEED to do much at all.

Sure it’s pretty obvious the team will use some of its picks to sure up the depth at positions like OL, DL, LB etc.  The direction the teams goes in the first round (if they even keep the pick) is anybody’s guess.  Will it be Coby Fleener the tight end from Stanford?  Will it be a receiver like Stephen Hill?  Or will the 49ers surprise us and take a player nobody expects, at a position we’re not anticipating?  Who knows?

I can’t wait for this draft, whoever the team chooses, that’s the player I want.  After last seasons masterful off season and surprising draft that raised eyebrows on draft day but produced one of the best draft classes in the league, my faith is 100% behind Trent Baalke.  The team did another wonderful job this off season.  Bringing back all 11 starters from the leagues best defense.  Bringing in some offensive firepower with the signings of Brandon Jacobs, Randy Moss and Mario Manningham.  While adding depth and intrigue at the QB position re-signing Alex Smith, then signing Josh Johnson.

This draft isn’t about who you want or who you think the team needs next season.  The team really doesn’t need anything, this draft is almost a luxury.  One thing is for sure, whoever the team picks, those players will have to fight for playing time and even a roster spot in most cases.  You don’t have to look back very far to remember several drafts when all the 49ers picks were almost guaranteed a roster spot and had a real chance at starting or playing a big role.  Not anymore, and that’s why, I don’t care who we pick and I’m ready for anything come Thursday night.
