We should not be so obsessed with whether someone runs 4.3 or 4.4 at the combine. They never reach anywhere near those speeds in pads anyway. Just get humble but moxie players who run their routes and hang onto the ball. Yes and that means YOU TOO CRABTREE.

It's obvious Michael Crabtree lacks the speed and quickness to ever be a #1 receiver. However, it's not his fault the 49ers drafted him with the 10th pick in the 1st rd, it's theirs. Why? Because he's a possession receiver being paid as a #1 ($4m next yr). Looking at this from a business perspective, he's probably going to be paid $3m to $3.5m more this year than he should when compared to other like receivers on their first contract. If available, this is money that could better be used to sign other players. It could possibly make the difference in keeping one of their free agents (C. Rogers) or signing another teams free agent.

The draft is not an exact science, every team makes mistakes but it's what they do with those players that can affect the long term success of a team. So what should the 49er's do, trade him, renegotiate his contract or nothing? I'm guessing they'll do nothing... at least for this year.
