We were all hoping the nine 49ers selected to the Pro Bowl, six of them starters, would not play in Sunday’s game in Hawaii. That would have meant the 49ers advanced to the Super Bowl, but those hopes were dashed last week. It will be hard to watch the Pro Bowl because one, I rarely tune in to the game, and two, watching any sort of football is still hard after the loss. I can only imagine what it will be like for the Niners player participating in the game with the loss still stinging from last week.
The 49ers broke a franchise record this season by sending nine players to the Pro Bowl, breaking the previous record of six in 1971. Only six of the players will see action. Frank Gore, Dashon Goldson and Carlos Rogers will not play because of injuries.
