San Francisco 49ers fans will be watching the first round of the playoffs once again without their team playing. However, this time around is much different than the previous eight playoffs in the NFL: the 49ers are participants as the second seed in the NFC. This weekend we Niner fans get to relax and watch all the games to see who will be our opponent in the next round. In the second round we know the 49ers will not play the Packers because they are the No. 1 seed. Nor will they play the Lions (No. 6 seed) because if they shock the Saints this weekend they head to Green Bay. I haven’t been this excited for the playoffs since, well, 2002 when the 49ers last made the NFL tournament.
The first game this weekend has the Bengals vs. Texans and will be first meeting between two starting rookie QB’s (Andy Dalton and T.J. Yates) since the AFL-NFL merger. The second game on Saturday will see the Lions vs. Saints and has an astonishing 59 over/under for the game. On Sunday it will be the Falcons vs. Giants which has potential to be the most exciting game this weekend with a lot of scoring. The Steelers vs. Broncos game will follow which could be the most boring game of the weekend with little scoring. The Steelers have injuries to QB Ben Roethlisberger, C Mike Pouncey, RB Rashard Mendenhall and S Ryan Clark, with the latter three all missing Sunday’s game. The Broncos have Jesus Tim Tebow at quarterback and you never know how he will play not only game to game, but quarter to quarter. We could see one touchdown scored all game between the two teams.
After the games are all said and done the 49ers could go up against the Saints, Falcons or Giants depending on who wins. Do you favor one team over the other? Answer the poll below and send us your comments why!
