The 49ers lead the Cardinals 12 to 7 it’s halftime in Arizona (should add 7 points to the 49ers score! That call on the fake FG was BS!). Here are my half time reactions.
49ers Red Zone offense needs a makeover: I’m getting tired of seeing the 49ers throw it on first down inside the red zone. RUN THE BALL ON 1ST HARBAUGH! This is the one area the 49ers have regressed from recent seasons this year. Over the last 5 games they have been outright pathetic. Thank God for David Akers.
Aldon Smith is a MONSTER: why isn’t he playing EVERY DOWN YET? It seems like good things happen each and every time Smith comes into the game. Just look at the hustle and athleticism he displayed catching up to Jon Skelton and stripping him of the ball in the 2nd quarter. We need this guy on the field.
The rest of my halftime reactions and prediction for the final score after the jump
The offensive line has regressed: Alex Smith has been sacked as much as any QB in the league now. The Cardinals are getting way too much pressure. It doesn’t make things any better that Joe Staley is injured. The OL looked like it had really improved, now it’s looking like that was a product of a very conservative offense. It’s key that the 49ers figure this out as they continue to open up the offense in preparation of the playoffs.
49ers win if: They continue to shut down the Cardinals offense and can find a way to get into the end zone. To do that they MUST protect Alex Smith.
Cardinals win if: The 49ers suffer a complete collapse and Skelton actually plays well. In other words, the Cards won’t win. This game as the rest of the games vs the West are is about the evolution of the offense getting ready for the playoffs.
Prediction: 49ers score 2 TDs, cause at least 2 more Arizona turnovers. Final Score: 49ers 26 Cardinals 3
