49ers Playoffs at a Glance

Hey Niner Fans we are in the Playoffs it feels so good to be able to write that. As a lifelong Niner fan and football enthusiast it’s great to be back in the dance. Over the next few weeks I will be looking into the possibilities for the playoffs and what match ups could bode well for the Niner’s . Once again congrats to the 49ers and all the Faithful that have stuck it out.

With four weeks left in the Season a lot can happen and a lot will happen but first and foremost the Niners need to keep the number 2 seed and they are definitely in position to do it. With the Cardinals, Steelers, Seahawks, and Rams left we have a great chance of going 4-0 in those games worst case 3-1. I for one see us winning the Steeler game and Seatle may pose a bigger threat. Currently the first round of the playoffs is Saints vs Falcons and Cowboys vs Bears it would be fantastic if this was the way it shapes up but no way we have this play off scenario not with the Bears being banged up and the Cowboys inconsistency. So what could be in store for the Niners when the playoffs begin. There are six teams with a decent shot at the postseason with a seventh as a dream shot. The Cowboys, Giants, Bears, Falcons, Lions, Seahawks, and the dream team the Eagles all have some possibilities to make the playoffs and could be favorable for the Niners.

Cowboys  currently 7 -5 and leading the East have to play the Giants twice in Tampa and the Eagles these are three real tough games for the Cowboys and one that could be a disaster if they lose. As I look at this schedule I can honestly say the Cowboys will come out 9-7 at worst and I dislike this team like no other. But a split with the Giants is reasonable and the Eagles will come to play the Bucs would be a big upset and would put a nail in Cowboys would love it but not looking good.

Giants currently 6-6 one game back and losers of 4 straight after a brutal schedule I like them to win this week at Dallas then they play the last three at home kind of with the Skins, Jets and Cowboys all at Met Life Stadium. Should the Giants win this week get a couple players healthy and 9-7 is not out of the question but 8-8 more realistic but a sweep of the Cowboys would be a playoff spot.

Bears currently 7-5 and on a downward spiral as they are next in line in Tebows Crusade then, Seattle, at Packers, and Vikings. Without Cutler and Forte they may not win another game and that is a shame for a team that was a threat to the Packers. So I see this as a best case 8-8 and unless the own a tiebreaker should 8-8 be good enough they are done.

Falcons currently 7-5 with Carolina, Jacksonville, at Saints and home for the Bucs they look to have a good chance to make the playoffs unless they play like last week this team is one I want in the playoffs mainly the six seed they are the biggest threat to the Saints and the Falcons beating the Saints in the  plyoffs could bode well for the Niners. This Falcon team is hard to figure out they could play to there capability and win out but they have not proven to be consistent at any time this season so 9-7 looks more likely.

Lions currently 7-5 and what a mess this team is with the Vikings,at  Raiders, Chargers, and at Packers who knows what to expect I see 9-7 as a best case for them but 8-8 would not surprise me the Raiders at home and the Chargers are very dangerous for a Lion team that is struggling they will be no match for the Pack unless they pack it in so I will stick with 8-8 and no play offs for Lions

Seahawks currently 5-7 with the Rams, at Bears, Niners, and at Cards why even talk about this team with all the 7-5 teams do they have a chance maybe as you have seen above some of the teams could end up 8-8 and the Seahawks could hold a few tiebreakers they could also win out and hit what looks to be a magic 9-7 number but with all that said 8-8 is more likely and missing the playoffs.

Eagles currently  just DREAMING run the table and pray.

For the Niners the best case playoff scenario in my opinion would be  Saints Falcons and Giants Cowboys. Should this be the case the Falcons as the sixth seed would upset the Saints sending the Falcons to the Packers and the Niners would take on the winner of the Giants and Cowboys both teams we have played and would be a good match up for a team with very few players to ever play in the playoffs. Then would love to go to Green Bay and pay back would be sweet from the years we lost to the Packers in San Francisco when we were heavy favorites.
