Over the last few games the 49ers have gotten away from Running Back Frank Gore and that is not a bad thing. The offense and the coaches have gotten live looks at where the passing game is at this point in the season and what they can work on. The deep ball is in need of a lot of work and the 49ers will need that big play in the playoffs. Yet on this Sunday it will be all about Gore.
Frank will be the focus for this game as the 49ers look to reestablish a dominant running game and take it to the Rams, A team that gave up 228 yards to Arizona RB Beanie Wells with a backup QB at the helm. While I don’t believe the Rams defense will play that bad but I do believe Frank will put up 150 yards on the Rams should the 49ers let him? This game could get out of hand by half and the coaches may choose to play RB Kendall Hunter a bit more to save Frank.
This will be a historic day for Frank as he will become the all time leading rusher for the 49ers and this will probably happen on his 3rd carry in the 49ers first drive as long as the 49ers have more than 22 yards to go when they get the ball, hopefully he breaks the record on a touchdown run. This record is well deserved for Frank he has been a great player on a bad team for a long time he has stuck it out and has worked hard.
Not only will Frank break the record on Sunday but he will earn his first trip to the playoffs. Should Frank break the record early I expect him to be out of the game as soon as possible because he needs to stay healthy for the 49ers to have any chance at a Super Bowl run.
On a different note this game against the Rams is huge in the race for a bye in the playoffs since the Saints lost to both the Rams and Bucs the 49ers would hold a tie breaker advantage in the like opponent category.
