Halftime 49ers 9- Giants 6
Giants first scoring drive should have ended in a turnover. That call was complete bulls*** no whistle was blown, forward progress was not stopped, let them play football boys! I like the aggressive opening drive with lots of spread them out pass plays, getting Braylon Edwards involved early established another threat. Look for this to help open up the run game later, making the Giants respect our weapons in the passing game early could be pivotal to the run later in the game. The 49ers may be hiding Frank Gore’s injury a little bit while limiting his work. Still I’d like to see more running plays even if that means playing Kendall Hunter more.
I’d like to see Aldon Smith on the field more often, without Ahmad Bradshaw the Giants are going to have to rely on their passing attack and getting in Eli Manning’s face will be huge in this game. The 49ers have 0 sacks in the first half and that must change if they expect to stop Manning and the Giants passing game in the second half.
Page 2: My random thoughts and what the 49ers must do to win the game
I LOVE the onside kick attempt, the Giants did a nice job recognizing it but Akers had a perfect kick and nice recovery from Delaine Walker.
This looks like it’s going to be a tough game for the 49ers to win, I see the team going more with the run and ball control offense in the second half. Don’t expect Jim Harbaugh to put this whole game on Alex Smith’s shoulder’s, the 49ers are a running team and that will happen at some point, it’s not like this is a high scoring affair.
Carlos Rogers with his 4th interception of the year, thank you for proving my point that you are perhaps the biggest bargain free agent signing in the NFL this year.
Awful play by Ted Ginn Jr giving the Giants a minimum of 3 points at the end of the half dropping that ball and allowing Webster to pick off that pass. It’s a shame football isn’t scored like baseball where Ginn could get the “error” or whatever there.
What the 49ers must do in the 2nd half to win
49ers must get the running game going and they must get a pass rush. Great job once again by the 49ers defense in the red zone. David Akers may be the MVP of the first half with his 52 yard FG and successful onside kick. Alex Smith looks great, 49ers offense just needs to finish things and get a couple of key TDs to win this game. On the defensive side of the ball the team just needs to continue to do what they have done all season, stop points, simple enough right?
Predicted Final Score: 49ers 29-Giants 20
