49ers Mid Week Injury Report: Harbaugh’s Bluffing

The Braylon Edwards situation has been all over the place today. After it was widely speculated and later validated by head coach Jim Harbaugh that Edwards would return  vs. the Browns this week on Monday. Since it’s been back and forth, depending on the time of day and who you ask.

Early in the day Harbaugh answered a question about Edwards that he may have been overly optimistic about Edwards return this week vs. the Browns.

“I think we need a little more evaluation — might have been a little overly optimistic, just in general, about our guys we’re getting back for this ballgame. We’ll assess it and determine it day by day.”

Later in the day it was reported that not only was Edwards running the entire route tree at full speed during practice but also that all other 49er   players who have been banged up recently practiced today in full pads a strong indication they will play on Sunday.
While the 49ers   have been fortunate for the most part this season having only lost 1 significant player to injured reserve when WR Joshua Morgan broke his leg a few have been playing through injuries, another reason why this was a perfect bye week   for the 49ers.

Harbaugh is not exactly known as a media darling or anything and the team has remained pretty quiet on the injury front every since Harbaugh and general manager Trent Baalke took the reins. In my opinion Edwards and everyone else from Mike Iupati, Adam Snyer, and Parys Haralson plays Sunday. Guys like Tramaine Brock and Moran Norris may take another couple weeks. While Harbaugh has done a great job as a head coach I think he slipped up on Monday by his own standards. He doesn’t reveal the extent of any player until it is mandated by the NFL that the team send an official injury report. Yet he mysteriously did open up here? This is gamesmanship, posturing, back peddling whatever you want to call it but I call bluff.
