Former 49er Wide Receiver Terrell Owens according to his agent is ready to play after suffering a torn ACL earlier this year. Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak said he could be interested in signing TO. The 49ers were one of the teams interested in acquiring former Denver WR Brandon Lloyd and rumors were the team offered more than the conditional 5th round pick the Rams sent for him but Lloyd made it known he did not want to return to the 49ers. With injuries to the WR position all year long with everybody from Michael Crabtree to Braylon Edwards to Joshua Morgan who was recently put in injured reserve ending his season the 49ers were obviously interested in adding another receiver. They were also apparently not afraid to bring back a wideout that had a bad relationship with the former regime and was run out of town. Sounds a lot like Owens story in San Francisco (any basically everywhere else) to me.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus tells PFT that Owens, who tore an ACL earlier this year, has been cleared to play. His rehab reportedly included stem-cell therapy in Korea. Rosenhaus says that an open workout could be held within the next week, in advance of visits to potentially interested teams. It will be interesting to see if the 49ers are one of the clubs at that workout. It would signal if they would be willing to bring Owens back and risk a problem in the locker room to upgrade the WR depth with a future HOF veteran? Would it be worth the risk? Can TO come back at 37 coming off a torn ACL even make an impact? You decide.
