The 49ers at 3-1 already hold a 2 game lead vs the Seahawks and Cardinals and a 3 game lead on the 0-4 Rams. Today’s game vs the Bucs has huge implecations in the division already as the rest of the West have been a disaster thus far in the season while the 49ers have started strong at 3-1.
Chances are even with a 49ers loss they will not lose any ground in the West as the Arizona Cardinals are getting ripped by the Minnesota Vikings 28-3 at Half Time as Adiran Peterson has carved them up. Seattle meanwhile is keeping pace with the NY Giants and are deadlocked at 14 at the half. I still expect to see the Giants pull out the win this week as they are vastly superior to Seattle which looks like a train wreck this season. The 0-4 Rams have a bye this week, not that they pose any real threat anyway.
After 2 consecutive road wins the 49ers return home to take on the Tampa Bay Bucs. The offense came together in a statement comeback win in Philadelphia last week and confidence is riding high in San Francisco. As I’ve wrote before I expect the 49ers to win this game in a close one. And if they do they just might be distancing themselves far enough from the rest of the West for them to catch up.
Here’s a look at the NFC West standings coming into Week 5
Team W L Stk
49ers 3 -1 W2 (4pm est/1pm pst vs Bucs)
