The 49ers are off to a roaring start and confidence is at an all time high…well since 2009 that is. The 49ers have been here before, under a bad coach in Mike Singletary in 2009 of course when the team also started out 3-1.
But this time it just feels different, the talent level is higher, no more are the huge gaping holes at multiple positions on the roster. This 49er team has talent at every position and finally a Head Coach with a vision. The team looks different, the attitude is different, the hustle is better…wait you’ve heard this before. It was 2009 remember the team started 3-1 under former HC Mike Singletary (I’ve written that before somewhere).
The truth is it’s some of those things but not the all hype ones, these results you can see. The Mike Nolan and Mike Singletary regimes had moments where it looked like maybe, just maybe the team was turning it around. The media and fans would cheer how “inspired” and how much “hustle” the team was showing out there under the new ball coach. Whatever, this is professional sports people! The team is better this year because they are coached better, they aren’t getting screamed at to be more “fysical” they are being taught how to use better technique and utilize their skill set to the fullest. The talent is upgraded yes, but I can’t look at the field on offense and defense and say with 99% certainty what play is being called.
After watching this team’s resiliency on Sunday in Philadelphia I am convinced we can play with anybody in the NFL and are only going to get better. This was Jim Harbaugh’s finest game as a professional coach in the NFL, he won a challenge, stayed with the run game in the 2nd half down 20 (how awesome was the 3rd and 7 sweep to Hunter call?) and opened up the offense taking calculated chances downfield that won the game.
At the beginning of the season I predicted this team would go 8-8, 9-7 at best but would win the division and make the playoffs. I still think they will win the division but I think 10 games is a real possibility now.
Don’t forge to comment and let us know why you think the 49ers will or won’t make the playoff’s this season.
