49ers second year Running Back Anthony Dixon may be on the hotseat. Dixon fell behind rookie RB Kendall Hunter and has carried the ball just one time for 6 yards on the season. Dixon saw the field for just 2 offensive plays Sunday vs. the Eagles. Meanwhile the team brought in 3 RBs for workouts. Dimitri Nance, Jalen Permele and Tyrell Sutton on Tuesday.
It seems Dixon himself is feeling the pressure based on this recent tweet:
“Pressure Presents Opportunity,I accept all challenges Lord!”
The 49ers took Dixon in the 6th round of last years draft and he showed immediate promise leading the NFL in preseason rushing yards as a rookie. He quickly fell to 3rd on the 49ers depth chart after the team signed veteran back Brian Westbrook and Dixon rarely saw the field as a rookie.
The knock on Dixon 6’1″/233lbs doesn’t play to his size. Dixon has received critisism from both the Singletary and Harbaugh regimes for dancing around too much and not using his large frame to be a power runner.
