With the 49ers going up against the Bengals on Sunday Niner Noise teamed up with Cody Byers who is editor of Stripe Hype for a Q&A.  Head over to the Bengals blog to see to our answers.  Enjoy!

Q.  The Bengals were close to starting 2-0 last week and rookie quarterback Andy Dalton looks to be the real deal in the first two games with 413 passing yards, 3 TD’s and no interceptions.  What is Dalton’s best ability that makes him a good quarterback?

His best ability is his mental grasp of the game. Dalton had a shortened preseason and already he’s telling other players where to line up. OC Jay Gruden is letting Dalton have a lot of control over the play at the line and so far it’s paid off.

Q.  With recent news that wide receiver Jerome Simpson was connected to a marijuana shipment and running back Cedric Benson being suspended three-games,  how would losing those two players affect Dalton’s progress?

Cedric Benson will be playing in Sundays game. Jerome is a loss, if he is actually out. But at the same time Andre Caldwell is more proven & should be a big help.

Q.  Owner Mike Brown has been steadfast in his refusal to trade quarterback Carson Palmer.  How will the saga play out?  Will he be traded?  Is there any chance Palmer could play in a Bengals uniform again?

No chance he plays for the Bengals again. Depending on how long Palmer waits before retiring the Bengals may trade him. I don’t see it happening during 2011 at all, but there is a chance at 2012.

Q.  How have Bengals fans reacted to Palmer’s trade demand and his supposed retirement?

Bengals fans have moved on from Palmer. In fact when you go to Bengals games you may see a few #9 jerseys, but with the word “Quitter” taped over the name.

Q.  Do the Bengals have any chance of making the playoffs or finishing with a winning record?

Considering it’s a rarity for teams lead by rookie QB’s to make the playoffs, I would say no. They’re a talented young team, but won’t be in contention yet.

Q.  Which Bengals player will be trouble for the 49ers on Sunday?

AJ Green will play like a 4th overall pick should. He’s looked good in both games so far and is leads all rookies in receptions, yards & TD’s.

Q.  What is your prediction for the 49ers vs. Bengals game?

Like most games this season for the Bengals I think it will be close. Cincinnati by 7.
