		<description>While I agree that Smith hasn&#039;t lived up to expectations, the 49ers have failed to give him an opportunity to succeed. We&#039;ve already heard about lack of coaching consistency, but also a lack of offensive weapons (during his early years) and a subpar offensive line have hindered his success. We&#039;ve already tried to motivate him by having a competitor waiting on the bench (Shaun Hill, Troy Smith, David Carr, etc.). That only made him constantly look over his shoulder and play scared. He was playing to NOT lose, instead of playing to win. Signing McCown might be the right call here. If not, we have a solid chance at Andrew Luck (with some help from the Bengals and Browns). </description>
