We here at Niner Noise don’t cheer injuries to players but with recent news that Terrell Owens had ACL surgery in April, it is a possibility a team won’t sign him for the 2011 season. ACL injuries are serious especially when the player is 37 and has posted declining numbers the last two seasons. The one reason 49ers fans have a reason to be happy with Owens’ injury is because the wide receiver is second on the all-time receiving yards list with 15,934 behind Jerry Rice who leads with 22,895. Yes, Owens is 6,961 receiving yards behind Rice but the further away he is on the all-time list, the better. With Owens likely out recovering from surgery until November, Rice will stand alone with a wide margin for a long time.

Eric Melendez has been a life-long 49ers fan that bleeds Red and Gold. While growing up in Orange, CA he was behind enemy lines when the Rams played in Anaheim in the ’80s and most of the ’90s. This however allowed him to see the 49ers every year when they came into town as his dad had season tickets for the Rams. Having lived in San Francisco since 2008, his appreciation for the Niners has only grown as he is able to cheer on the 49ers with locals at the bar and attend home games.
