Poll: Should the 49ers Sign Plaxico Burress

With Plaxico Burress fresh out of jail and NFL news lacking other than player organized workouts the focus has been on which team he could end up with.  After hearing the news on Monday Burress was released I asked myself what every NFL fan did, would Burress work for us?  The short answer is no.  He would be a risk as he showed in his horrible judgment by bringing a gun into a nightclub with it discharging.  Also throw in that fact he has been out of football for two years.  I doubt he is capable of pulling a Michael Vick.

Jim Harbaugh already has one diva wide receiver to deal with in Michael Crabtree so having Burress on the team could be more distractions than the first year coach would want.  It would be nice to have a veteran wide receiver to go with Crabtree and Josh Morgan but Burress is not that veteran.

I agree with you Eric, no need for Plaxico Burres on the 49ers.

I am SHOCKED by the poll results thus far 60% pro-Burress?

I’d love to hear some comments for the pro-Burress crowd and why anyone thinks this signing would be a good idea.

I would sign him as he is gunna come back in the league with something to prove. I also think more depth at WR could be helpful as crabtree has been nothing but a dissapointment. Also add in his recent comment i would add burres maybe make crabtee work for his job. We have a lot of money in him and so far he has never made me jump out my seat. I am not saying burres is the definative answer or will have the vick effect but it cant hurt much in this season.

Burress is WAY past his prime and will need a year just like Vick did to shake off the rust. He’s a #3 WR at best and would do nothing but stunt the growth of our young WRs.
