ESPN Top 10 List Leaves Out 49ers Patrick Willis
Whenever a top ten list of anything is released there is always someone who gets left off that deserves to be included. ESPN released their top-ten NFL players as of right now, there was a tie at number ten, and not only did the list have only one defensive player, Troy Polamalu, but did not have Patrick Willis on the list. Here is the list ESPN NFL bloggers came up with: 1. Tom Brady, New England Patriots 2. Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts 3. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints 4. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers 5. Troy Polamalu, Pittsburgh Steelers 6. [...]
49ers Eric Heitmann Has Surgery
Regardless if the NFL lockout ends and a 2011 season begins 49ers center Eric Heitmann will be on the sidelines because of recent neck surgery. Heitmann suffered two injuries in training camp last season, a neck injury and then a broken left leg, which caused him to miss the season. His agent said the surgery repaired a ruptured disk in the centers neck and it will take six months for him to recover. Heitmann was the 49ers iron man from 2004 to 2009 only missing two games because of injury. He played well during those years and held together a [...]
Terrell Owens Injury Gives 49er Fans Reason to Cheer
We here at Niner Noise don’t cheer injuries to players but with recent news that Terrell Owens had ACL surgery in April, it is a possibility a team won’t sign him for the 2011 season. ACL injuries are serious especially when the player is 37 and has posted declining numbers the last two seasons. The one reason 49ers fans have a reason to be happy with Owens’ injury is because the wide receiver is second on the all-time receiving yards list with 15,934 behind Jerry Rice who leads with 22,895. Yes, Owens is 6,961 receiving yards behind Rice but the [...]
Born in American Samoa, 49ers Mike Iupati
This post was written by Jared A. Quan Michael Iupati was born May 12, 1987 in American Samoa. Later at the age of 14 he would move to California, and play high school football at Western High School. Despite having achieved all-state and all-conference honors, sites like Rivals.com and scout.com only rated Iupati as a two star recruit. After suffering some academic drawbacks, he would go on to be one of Idaho’s most prolific offensive linemen of all time. Most 49ers fans have heard the basic history of Mike Iupati however there are many things that fans might not be [...]

Dashon Goldson Wants to Stay with 49ers
Current free agent cornerback Dashon Goldson said on Sports Radio 95.7 he wants to return to the 49ers. With the current lockout Goldson is a player without a team however with Drew Rosenhaus as his agent Goldson will find a suitor somewhere. The question with Goldson is can he play any better than he did last season? Goldson didn’t have an impression season but down the stretch he had some solid games that included the win in week 14 against the Seahawks when Goldson ran his only interception of the season back for a touchdown. “I would like to be [...]
Whenever it is that the lockout ends the first order of business in the NFL will be free agency. The 49ers still have holes at multiple positions so they should be active in the shortened free agency period. Answer the poll below and tell us who the 49ers should target in the comments.
49ers should be concerned about Running Back Position
Frank Gore in recent years has been the only productive running back on the 49ers and one of the few productive players on offense. The two Mike’s (Nolan and Singletary) ran Gore into the ground with Nolan not having any other offensive weapons and Singletary’s unrealistic vision of running 60% of the time. Gore suffered his broken hip in week 12 last season which had a lot to do with his workhorse use and mentality. Gore has carried the 49ers offense since he became the starting running back in 2006 and he relishes that role. If you are to believe [...]
Poll: What will the 49ers record be in 2011?
With the lockout still lingering and free agency waiting to start the 49ers roster still has holes at cornerback and defensive end. I think the 49ers will sign some good free agents to fill those holes so the answer to the question of what will the 49ers record will be in 2011 will most likely change.
49ers Kaepernick Nearing Full Recovery
The 49ers Blog and Q&A at the Sacramento Bee is reporting that second round draft pick Colin Kaepernick is almost fully recovered following surgery on his left leg in May. Kaepernick has been bringing his leg back to 100% by doing strength and conditioning and rehabbing his injury at Stanford Hospital. I wonder if Andrew Luck has given him a visit to talk about Jim Harbaugh’s offense. Kaepernick did attend Camp Alex but did not participate in the sessions however it was valuable for the 49ers to have him on the field watching the offense. “I’m a little anxious for [...]
